Facelifted Audi A6
Audi recently introduced a face-lifted version of their A6 sedan. The revised A6 features styling changes inside and out, which include new front and rear lights that incorporate LED technology. The revisions also include a reconfigured suspension for more comfort, and an evolved version of Audi’s MMI (Multi Media Interface) that’s more intuitive than before.
The A6 also gets an all-new 3.0 liter supercharged petrol engine that produces just under 290 horsepower and, more importantly, 310 lb/ft of torque, which is almost as much as Audi’s larger 4.2 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine. The new engine enables the A6 to sprint to 100km/h in under 6 seconds, which is 2 seconds faster than the current 3.2 V6 FSI – whether or not this engine will make it to India when these changes are incorporated in the first quarter of 2009 is still unclear.

Maruti Suzuki’s production A-Star |
|
| |
|
The Conept A-Star debuted at the Auto Expo in January to a great deal of fanfare. This Indian designed concept was nothing short of stunning. The production version, as expected, has been toned down drastically, although the overall shape remains. This car will be sold as the new Alto globally, whereas in India it’ll sell as the A-Star along with the existing Alto.
Like the Hyundai i10, India will be the sole production hub for the new Alto. It’ll come with an all-new 1.0 liter, 3 cylinder, all-aluminum engine, which will produce about 60bhp. It’ll be similar in size, if not slightly larger, than the Wagon R and Zen Estilo but will be built on a new platform. The car will debut in October and is expected to be priced between Rs. 3-4 lakhs. |

6th generation Golf
Volkswagen recently launched the 6th generation of its iconic Golf hatchback. While it looks very much like an evolution of the existing Golf, there are distinct similarities between the new Golf and the Scirocco coupe launched earlier this year.
This is clearly the new design language that VW Design Head, Walter De Silva, wants to incorporate across the brand. Mechanically, the 2.0 TDI diesel engine will now get common-rail technology, which is quieter than the current pump-injection technology that’s found in the Jetta.
For those of you who have recently ordered a Jetta, don’t worry – the next generation Jetta, which is based on the Golf, isn’t expected till 2010.

Chevrolet’s new Cruze
This bold and striking new car is the Chevrolet Cruze that will debut at the Paris Motor Show in October this year. It’s an entirely new global model from Chevrolet. A lot is expected of the Cruze, as Chevrolet aims to make a strong design statement and take a big step forward with this car.
The Cruze will make its debut with an all new 1.8 liter petrol engine and the very responsive 2.0 liter turbo-diesel found in the Captiva SUV. The car will be priced in the Rs. 12-13 lakh range when it finds its way to India in 2009.
