Honda Launches CBR250R for India

There was no hype, there were no cameras and there was no horde of journalists at Honda’s recent press conference in the capital. In a very low-key style meet, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India made two very important announcements. The first was the change in top management as Mr Shinji Aoyama will step down as President and CEO and will be replaced by Mr Keita Muramatsu as of April 1st 2011.

The second announcement was the official launch of the much awaited CBR 250R. Due to the recent tsunami that affected Japan, Honda decided not to have a celebrative event and therefore launched the bike in a very calm and respectable manner. The new 250cc bike from Honda uses a liquid cooled 4-stroke 4-valve single cylinder DOHC engine and can produce a healthy 25bhp. The bike will be available for a very competitive price of Rs 1.43 lakh for the standard version and the C-ABS version will be available for Rs 1.68 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.

Suzuki's First Fuel Cell Scooter

A first of its kind, Suzuki has revealed their Burgman Fuel-Cell Scooter which has become the world’s first fuel-cell vehicle to earn Whole Vehicle Type Approval in the European Union. The scooter which made its debut at Tokyo Motor Show in 2009 has worked on by British company Intelligent Energy which helped develop its fuel-cell system.

The Burgman is currently undergoing trials in the area surrounding Loughborough University in central England. The fuel-cell scooter uses a compact and light weight air-cooled fuel cell and a hydrogen tank positioned inside the frame. Electricity produced by the fuel cell powers a motor and the only emission is water. Suzuki is planning to make eco-friendly fuel-cell scooters a common sight in Europe will also develop hydrogen filling stations and other required infrastructure to make them a viable alternative to gas guzzling scooters.
