After Bankruptcy, Moto Morini Up For Sale

Italian Bike Manufacturer, Moto Morini first entered into trouble in December 2009 when the company halted production. The process has been agonizing for Moto Morini, which seemed to be on the verge of being saved by Paulo Berlusconi and his Garelli Corporation. Unfortunately, the deal was frowned upon by the labor unions, and Berlusconi walked away from the table at the final hour.

Moto Morini is now back up for grabs for a base price of €5.5 Million which entitles the buyer to the appropriate intellectual property, assets, and equipment except previously assembled motorcycles, which will be sold separately. The auction of the Italian motorcycle and scooter maker is scheduled on the 13th of April, this year and rumors have it that Indian bike manufacturers, such as Mahindra and TVS might be interested.

Moto Morini is an Italian maker of motorcycles. It was founded by Alfonso Morini in Bologna, in 1937 and has been known to produce exceptional motorcycles and engines, such as the Corsaro Veloce 1200 and the Morini 350 V-twin.

American Motorbikes Indian Victory

The first Victory Motorcycle was produced in Spirit Lake, Iowa in 1998. The bike was met with immediate success and its Kingpin, Victory Vegas and Hammer models went on to win multiple awards.

What’s even better is that the successful American cruiser motorbike manufacturer is reportedly set to expand to the Indian market by 2012 and they even have plans for a new production facility in the country. Victory Motorcycles is following the footsteps of their main rival Harley Davidson after the Indian market received it warmly with steady sales.

Victory, which belongs to Polaris Industries, will bring its cruisers and touring motorcycles to the lucrative Indian market. During Polaris’ 2010 fiscal report, Chief Executive Officer Scott Wine indicated that the company had made several investments in markets like India. Although there has been no official announcement, the current reports tell us that Victory is completing a market analysis of India and is also planning to be a part of the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi.
