Audi S5 Preview
The Audi S5 is the high-performance variant of the A5. Like all Audi "S" cars, it is only available as standard with Audi's quattro four-wheel drive system. The S5 is currently available as a coupé, cabriolet, and five-door fastback, but it is most likely that we will see the new 2017 model coupe version come to India. The new 2017 model S5 coupe might look identical to the outgoing model, but it’s actually a completely different car.
Despite a longer wheelbase and wider tracks, Audi claims up to 60kg of weight savings when compared to the outgoing model. More importantly though, the new S5 Coupe will be powered by a new turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine, sending 350bhp to all four wheels. The S5 model will be offered only with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, with Audi offering the rear-axle sport differential for better handling as an option.
Being the most potent model currently in the range, the new S5 Coupe will do a 0-100km/h sprint in just 4.7 seconds. At the same time the newly developed turbo V6 engine claims to be more efficient and will return a combined fuel economy of 7.3 litres/100km.
The interiors in the new S5 have become more spacious, thanks to the longer wheelbase. The dashboard’s design remains the same as the A4, and features the continuous air-vent strip, ambient lighting and Virtual Cockpit display. The infotainment system now uses an 8.3-inch display controlled by the familiar rotary pushbutton and touchpad.
The new S5 Coupe also gets the latest active safety systems, such as Stop&Go adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist, cross traffic assist, rear collision avoidance assist, and turn assist as well as the Audi Pre-Sense systems.
