Honda Civi Preview
The tenth generation Honda Civic is based on Honda’s all-new compact global platform. Although the new Honda Civic may only comply as a compact car in America as the car otherwise appears to be fairly large, especially in its sedan form which should be India bound as opposed to the more recently unveiled hatchback model that makes more sense for European markets.
The theme behind the new Honda Civic was "dynamic rejuvenation" in order to place it "in a league of its own," states Honda. And going by its dynamic styling cues which gives it a futuristic front and rear end, wide stance and coupe like roof line, the new Civic indeed pulls out all the stops to stand out of the crowd and carve out an identity of its own. Honda has designed this car to be the sportiest Civic ever while also leading the segment in terms of spaciousness, fuel efficiency, safety features, interior quality and dynamic performance.
This also happens to be the first Honda Civic with a turbocharged engine. Engine choices for the car include a 1.5 litre unit, a 1.8 litre unit and a 2.0 litre unit, all of them are for cylinder engines and all of them run on petrol. Although, should the model make it to India the 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel engine may also find its way under the hood of the car, although it will have to be calibrated to develop more power in the Civic.
As is the case with all new cars, the new Honda Civic too will come loaded with a host of features. Top end models internationally come with equipment such as LED low beam headlamps, rain sensing wipers, remote engine starting function to cool the cabin or heat up the engine and cabin before a drive depending on weather conditions, a cap-less fueling system and more.
Expect the new Honda Civic to be priced in the range of Rs. 14 lakh to Rs. 19 lakh when it is launched in India.
