Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet
Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet Preview
Mercedes-Benz took the covers off the S-Class Cabriolet in September of 2015, just ahead of last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show and also showcased the car at our very own 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida. And the launch of the car in our market is not very far away either. Based on the current generation S-Class, the S Cabriolet offers the opulence of the S-Class saloon with the flair of an open top luxury automobile. The car, like its Coupe sibling features more flowing design cues than the saloon along with a bold front grille prominently flaunting a large three pointed star.
“After 44 years we are once again able to offer Mercedes aficionados an open-top car in the S-Class. The new S-Class Cabriolet symbolises our passion for individual and timelessly exclusive mobility, which we share with our customers”, remarks Ola Kallenius, Board Member of Daimler AG, Mercedes-Benz Cars Sales.
Keeping with its luxury theme, the new S-Class Cabriolet has been developed to keep wind turbulence in the cabin at a bare minimum to give occupants as quiet a ride as possible. The car also boasts of numerous aerodynamic design features and NVH reducing measures to ensure an audibly undisturbed ride.
What you would like to hear though is 448bhp 4.7 litre V8 Biturbo petrol engine that develops an even more generous 700Nm of torque and comes mated to Mercedes’ 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic transmission. The same powertrain currently does duty in the S 500 models of the S-Class and S Coupe as well. Expect the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet to be priced north of the Rs. 2 crore mark when it is launched in India.
