Nissan Kicks Preview
Nissan is expected to add a crossover to its Indian product portfolio in the form of the Kicks. The car was first showcased in concept from in 2014 and now Nissan has just commenced the production of the Kicks in Mexico.
In terms of dimensions though at 4,295mm in length, the Nissan Kicks is marginally smaller than the Terrano. However, the design looks a lot more youthful than its SUV sibling. The sloping roofline, the ascending shoulder and the flared wheel arches, all give it the stance that you’d expect from a crossover. Thanks to the 2,610mm wheelbase, it is safe to assume that the Nissan Kicks will be amply spacious on the inside.
Details about the engine specifications of the India-spec Kicks have still not been revealed but it is likely to use the 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel that also works on the other Nissan models. This engine makes peak power of 108bhp and maximum torque of 248Nm. Like the Terrano, the Kicks might also get the option of the 1.6-litre petrol powerplant which produces 102bhp and 145Nm. Nissan is likely to offer the Kicks with a manual as well as an automatic gearbox option.
Internationally, the Kicks comes heavily loaded with features including, a 7-speaker system, TFT display for the instrumentation, leather seats automatic headlights, automatic climate control, parking sensors and more. In terms of safety, it gets front two airbags, ABS, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Around View Monitor (AVM). To keep the costs in check, Nissan might strike out some of these features from the India-spec model. The Kicks will sit above the Terrano in Nissan’s product portfolio and is expected to be priced marginally higher too.
