Toyota New Corolla Altis Facelift
Toyota New Corolla Altis Facelift Preview
Although the executive sedan class of cars aren’t quite the number crunchers in their price range, Toyota is bullish about the future of the Corolla Altis. Three years into the launch of the current generation Corolla Altis, Toyota is getting a facelifted version ready for launch.
Unveiled in pictures earlier this year, the Toyota Corolla Altis will look bolder and more aggressive than its predecessor. The front grille is now sleeker and wider with horizontally stacked headlamps on either side. While the international spec model will come with full LED headlights, the one that will come to India will sport a conventional xenon setup with Daytime Running Lamps. The front bumper has been remoulded and now houses a larger air dam and neat cut-outs for the circular fog lamps. Toyota hasn’t made any changes to the Corolla Altis’ profile, however it is safe to expect funkier looking alloy wheels. At the back too, the 2017 Corolla Altis will feature some styling tweaks like smoked LED taillights and a sleeker chrome garnish above the registration plate.
On the inside too, the Corolla Altis will come with minor updates. Toyota is likely to give its current infotainment system the boot and replace it with a larger 7-inch touchscreen unit. Toyota claims that this new system will feature a smart-phone like touch feel courtesy a high-strength glass face with drag and flick capability. Behind the wheel, the facelifted Corolla Altis will come with a 4.2-inch multi-information display with a refreshed instrumentation console.
Since it’s a facelift, this refreshed Corolla will retain the same engine from the current generation model. It will continue to be offered with a 1.8-litre petrol unit churning out 140 horses and a 1.4-litre diesel mill pumping just 88bhp.
Expect the refreshed version of the Toyota Corolla Altis to make it to India in early 2017. When launched it is expected to be priced marginally higher than its current Rs 13.79 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) price point.
