| Honda reveals its 4th-Gen CR-V |
| |
 |
Year-after-year, if one wonders why people have become fans of a Japenese company that made a phenomenal case for itself when it was introduced itself in India, they will go ballistic if they know what’s going to come their way next year. Honda had already made heads turn and people fall in love with their SUV – the CR-V, and now they are looking to open a whole new chapter in that direction as they plan to bring out a new, improved and futuristic side of the car in the coming year. Having already made its debut at the LA Auto Show, the CR-V has already received accolades for its looks and a lot of excitement surrounds it as it makes its way here in India.
Frankly, Honda has had a poor run over the last year or so, with the only new car being the Brio, if you discount the revived Jazz. But then again, they look hungry for more and would want to repeat the response the old CR-V received here. The 2012 CR-V will be a CBU and will be imported to India from the company’s manufacturing plant in Swindon, UK and the US and the UK markets will be the first to see Honda’s newest entrant.
Under the hood of the new CR-V breathes a 2.4-litre iVTec engine which punches out 185bhp and we will also see Honda’s electronically controlled all-wheel drive make its way into the car. While the US and the UK markets will get the 5-speed automatic transmission as standard, we will have to wait and see if it’s the same in India as well. While the safety features are up-to-date, Honda is planning to load it with some great in-car entertainment features as well. The car will be in India in 2012, though Honda is tight-lipped about when it’s planning to come out with it but we think that the Auto Expo in Delhi might just be a great platform for them to showcase their vehicle to the Indian customers. It’s worth the wait and this may just be the one car to bring Honda back into the competition with a bang. |
