After brining Ferrari back to its winning ways, Michael Schumacher may have retired from Formula 1, but he’s not done just yet.
He may not be scorching the world’s F1 circuits anymore, but he’s still very much behind the drivers seat. He says he now enjoys developing road cars, and that’s exactly what he’s doing for the Maranello based dream car manufacturer. At the International Auto Show held in Frankfurt this September, Schumacher unveiled the new Ferrari 430 Scuderia.
The Ferrari F-430 is the successor to the 360 Modena, which had a sibling named the 360 CS (Challenge Stradale). This was essentially a stripped down, bare bones and more hardcore version of the 360. The CS was meant primarily for track use, as is the 430 Scuderia – or perhaps even ust to show off that little bit more
The 430 Scuderia takes a number of cues from Schumacher’s last ride, his Formula 1 Ferrari, such as advanced aerodynamics, a super quick F1 style paddle-shift gearbox with shift times of just 60 milliseconds, an electronic differential, and a sophisticated traction control system – all of which means it can virtually match the lap times of the ultra exclusive Ferrari Enzo around their Fiorano test track.
It produces 510bhp @ 8500rpm, which is extraordinary for a naturally aspirated V8 of only 4.3 litres – it produces a staggering 118bhp per litre. This momentous power help propel it from 0-100 in just 3.6 seconds. To bring it back to a standstill once again, because you’ll have to stop for fuel eventually, it has carbon. |
