McLaren have confirmed that a three-seater hyper-GT car, codenamed BP23, is on its way.
Bespoke Project 2 with three seats, spawns BP23, a codename given to McLaren’s upcoming hypercar, which is their second attempt at making another ground breaking high performance vehicle and it has been confirmed for production. McLaren Special Operations (MSO) division have been given the task to deliver 106 units of the BP23, with the first one to be rolled out of Woking in 2019.
McLaren are claiming the BP23 is going to be the “most exquisitely crafted and luxurious road-going McLaren to date”. The last time McLaren made a three-seater high performance car with the McLaren F1, it changed the way we look at physics all together. Now they have announced an all new three-seater car which we expect to be of epic proportions. McLaren made a total of 106 units of Gordon Murray’s McLaren F1 between 1992-1999, which is why, the BP23 is also limited to 106 units, all of which are already sold out.
McLaren are claiming that the BP23 will be the world’s first “Hyper-GT” car, and the designers have already started working on the project. McLaren will allow owners of the cars to work along side MSO to customise and create their own individual bespoke cars by selecting colour, trim and many other personalisation elements. In addition, McLaren will also customise all of the switchgear and craft them to the owner’s specifications.
The BP23 will have a central driving position like the F1, with two passenger seats on either side of the driver. The entire body will be shrink wrapped in carbon-fibre, with dihedral doors that will be powered and apertures extending into the roof of the car. McLaren are focusing on making the BP23 a vehicle that can be used for long journeys and also, what we expect to be, deliver performance which will again defy the laws of physics.
McLaren have confirmed that the BP23 will be the most powerful McLaren to date, and will feature hybrid powertrain. Further detail of the car will be revealed closer to the launch date.
