Tata Motors’ upcoming MPV, the Tata Hexa is likely to be launched on January 18th, 2017 and will be sold through existing dealer network.
Tata Motors is expected to launch the much anticipated replacement of the Tata Aria very soon. The new vehicle that was showcased at the Auto Expo earlier this year was the all new Tata Hexa. Read our review of the Tata Hexa.
The Hexa from Tata will feature a Varicor 320 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder, diesel engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This engine will churn out around 148bhp and 320Nm of torque and will be offered in the lower variants. The higher variants get same engine tuned to Varicor 400 spec which develops 154bhp and 400Nm of torque. This powertrain gets a 6-speed manual gearbox which features Tata’s new Super Drive modes with the 4×4 option. Tata will also offer this version of the Hexa with a 6-speed automatic with rear-wheel-drive.
Tata has laced the Hexa’s interior with premium quality fits, fixtures and materials. The MPV will be offered with either a 6-seat or 7-seat configuration available in all variants and trims, sun blinds for the rear windows, customisable mood lighting, and loads of cubby holes and storage space laid out around the cabin. AC vents and 12V power outlets are provided in all three rows of seats.
Tata will sell the Hexa from their existing network of dealers, and will not introduce a new premium channel to market the vehicle. All Tata Motors dealerships are currently accepting bookings for the Hexa which is expected to be launched in mid January, 2017. Tata is expected o price the Hexa competitively against the Toyota Innova and the Mahindra XUV500. We believe the Hexa would be priced around the 15 lakh mark
