Probably the best of the Bangle-butt BMW’s, the M6 Coupe and Convertible have reached the end of their life – BMW has already ceased production of both models. Stunning lines, hallmark athleticism, and V10 power – what more could you ask for from an automobile?

But don’t fret, as BMW just released images of the next-gen 6 series, which will have been unveiled at the Paris Motor Show by the time you read this. And, if the initial renderings are anything to go by, the car will be mouth-wateringly beautiful. It takes the styling of the current generation 6 series up several notches, and there’s just so much more cohesion to the overall design.

The sadder news, however, is that the M6’s award-winning 5.0 litre, 500 horsepower V10 motor is also being put to pasture. In 2005 and 2006, the V10 took overall victory in the prestigious ‘Engine of the Year Award.’ In 2007 and 2008, it won in the category for engines with a displacement above 4 litres. It was probably the closest you could come to experiencing BMW’s legendary V10 Formula 1 motor of previous years. The engine will likely be replaced by lower capacity forced induction motors, which will retain high horsepower figures but provide better efficiency. There’s no substitute for capacity however.

On the other hand, you should never underestimate the ability of Munich’s finest engineers.
