Round 4 of NRC experiences loads of action


T
he 4th round of the JK Tyre Volkswagen Polo R Cup 2011 held at the Irungattukottai Race Track in Chennai saw some high intensity racing from the young rookies starting in the Polo Cup going all the way down to other classes like the saloon class along with the LGB swifts.

Race 1 of the Polo R Cup saw Oshan Kothadiya take his first ever win of the series. The young rookie from Pune overtook Munjal Savla who was on pole from around the outside within the first corner to lead the race till the finish. It was Munjal Savla who came in second followed by Rahil Noorani who completed the top three positions. Mihir Dharkar should have been on the podium but a 20 second penalty for a jump start at the race resulted in Rahil being promoted to fourth.

Race 2 saw Rahil Noorani take the top spot on the podium. Having benefited by a 30 second penalty, which was handed over to the current championship leader Vishnu Prasad, Rahil claimed his second win of the day and third podium of the season. It was Angad Singh Matharoo from Chandigarh who came in second followed by Avdumber Hede in third.

Meanwhile in Formula LGB Swift there was high drama as Ameya Walavalkar of Mars Racing, who had won both races on the weekend, was disqualified due to a technical infringement. With Ameya out, it was K Chetan who took first place followed by Sandeep Kumar in second and S. Narendran in third. As a result of his exclusion, Ameya has now slipped down the leader board to second position with team mate R. Deepak leading the standings and Narendran placed third.

In Super Saloon’s it was V Rajvirdhan from Prime Racing who came first as he was followed by N Leela Krishnan of Rad Racing in second and Siddharth Kishore of Performance Racing in third position. On the other hand, Feroze Khan grabbed first position in the Junior Class followed by Diljith Shaji and B Balavijay.
