Fill it & forget it
Stop and go traffic can get unbearable, but sometimes it does give you time to reflect on the vehicle you’re driving. This month, the Ford Figo Aspire diesel joined our fleet of long termers and before I could realise I have driven twice of what I normally drive in just a month.
The Aspire has a punchy 1.5-litre diesel engine that delivers power at the nudge of the throttle in almost any gear, making it a perfect city as well as highway companion. The engine also isn’t thirsty as it is currently returning 24km/l of average fuel economy – mainly in the city with a little bit of expressway commute as well.
However, the clutch seems to be a bit too heavy. And although the car that hasn’t covered too many kilometers there is a slight but noticeable vibration from the steering wheel at high speeds, but that could just be a simple wheel balancing issue. Though ride is very comfortable, the soft suspension setup does allow significant body roll around corners. As a package with a comfortable and spacious cabin, the Aspire is a good car to travel in as a passenger – be it in the front or the rear, it’s quite spacious.
