The two cars that we have here – Audi's A6 and Volvo's S80 – are not for the nouveau riche who wish to flaunt their wares, but for connoisseurs in the know who appreciate, and can afford, extreme comfort and excellent engineering while maintaining an understated image. |

If you're willing to look beyond the now ubiquitous Mercedes star or BMW roundel on the bonnet, there are some pretty interesting choices available. Audi's been in India for a few years now and has been providing the benefits of German engineering to this select few. Now there's also a Scandinavian alternative, and this one has a V8 under the bonnet. |

You could drive both cars to the ends of the earth in absolute comfort with no fuss at all. Both are supremely capable of performing their everyday tasks of transporting captains of industry in indulgence without batting an eyelid – we take this opportunity, then, to scratch under the surface and see which one is more worthy. |

While Audi, part of the VW Group, has been making technically brilliant cars for some time, it's only now beginning to truly rival the likes of Mercedes Benz and BMW globally. Through the last year, Audi has been setting all-time sales records and gaining ground on its more recognized rivals. Audi's best known for its famed 'Quattro' or four-wheel drive technology. They made four-wheel drive a must have in the world of rallying beginning with the Audi Quattro in the 1980s, after which they became the first to adapt this technology for use in a large scale production vehicle.
On the other hand, Volvo is widely known for their commercial vehicles, in India for their luxury buses. What a lot of people don't know is that Volvo Cars, owned by the Ford Motor Co., is a manufacturer of premium European cars that compete directly with the likes of Mercedes Benz, BMW and Audi. They've also been renowned for consistently producing some of the safest cars in the world, and have made numerous safety innovations over the decades – the most notable being the seatbelts we use today. In fact, the most stringent crash tests have proven that the S80 is one of the safest cars on the planet.
