OGIER ALL THE WAY
After having won the first rally of the season in Portugal, Sebastien Ogier snatched victory from the hands of Ford driver Jari-Matti Latvala on the final stage of the Jordan Rally. Finishing the just 0.2 seconds ahead of Latvala, Ogier created history as he registered a narrowest victory margin in the history of WRC.

He started the final day with a 31.6 seconds lead. The Frenchmen was followed by Jari-Matti who pushed his Fiesta RS WRC to the very limit, managing to overtake Sebastien Loeb and cutting down a big margin of Ogier’s lead on the penultimate stage to claim second place.

Loeb came home third, which now puts him right on top of the Championship standing with 74 points, 2 points clear of Hirvonen. With this win, Ogier has moved into third place in the standing with 69 points followed by Latvala who has 66 points. Petter Solberg was also locked in a four-way battle for a podium finish until SS17 where the Norwegian spun off the road and couldn’t continue further. Matthew Wilson grabbed fifth place as he was followed by Federico Villagra in seventh and Khalid Al Qassimi in eight place.

It was a similar story the week before as Sebastien Ogier opened his podium account by winning the Rally of Portugal. The Citroen DS3 driver drove impeccably and enjoyed an error-free rally. Meanwhile his teammate and winner of Rally Mexico, Sebastien Loeb, won the Power Stage to claim second overall. Ford’s Jari-Matti Latvala claimed third-place.

The last day of the event saw Hirvonen struggling due a broken driveshaft and could only manage to finish fourth overall. Matthew Wilson who had started the final day in fourth place could not defend his position from Hirvonen in the rain-hit penultimate stage and finished in fifth position. Petter Solberg finished the rally in sixth place while Kimi Raikkonen Federico Villagra came home in seventh and eighth places, respectively.
