Mercedes-Benz GLA Facelift
Mercedes-Benz GLA Facelift Preview
After unveiling the refreshed GLA at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show in January, Mercedes-Benz is now all set to bring the updated model to the Indian shores. The new GLA gets a number of cosmetic upgrades and adds more features to the equipment list. The powertrain options are likely to be unchanged from the previous model, although it can get a new diesel engine.
On the outside, the updated Mercedes-Benz GLA comes with a redesigned front grille clubbed with contrasting chrome bits. The front bumper has also been re-sculpted to impart a more rugged look to the crossover. The facelifted GLA will also come equipped with LED headlamps. The overall profile and dimensions are unchanged, albeit it now comes with new alloy wheels and re-profiled LED tail-lamps.
Inside, the cabin design is unchanged, but the refreshed GLA gets a new 8-inch infotainment system. The interior also gets some chrome treatment in the new model. Apart from that, it’s expected to get a 360-degree parking camera aid, Active Brake Assist, electric tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, new seat upholstery and many other features.
Engine options will be retained from the outgoing model – meaning, it will have the same 2.0-litre petrol and the 2.1-litre diesel engines, paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. However, Mercedes might also introduce its new 2.0-litre diesel engine in the updated GLA, although we’ll only come to know about it when the car is launched. The GLA will be offered in FWD layout as standard, while 4Matic AWD system will be optional. Other than that, Mercedes has also tweaked the suspension setup of the vehicle. Its ride height has increased by 30mm over the previous model.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA will be launched in the country in July 2017. It’s expected to carry a price tag ranging between Rs 35 lakh and Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom).
