Skoda Octavia Facelift
Skoda Octavia Facelift Preview
Skoda introduced the new-generation Octavia in 2013 and since then the model hasn’t received any major updates. The Czech car maker is about to change that with the launch of the facelifted Octavia. In October last year, Skoda took the wraps off the refreshed Octavia and now it is about to be launched in India. The front of the updated Octavia now looks somewhat inspired from the Kodiaq. It retains the butterfly radiator grille but it is now flanked by squarer looking headlights on either side. There is also the bulge on the bonnet, similar to the one on the Kodiaq. The front bumper too has been redesigned and it now gives the Octavia a wider stance. The tail lamps too have been reprofiled. While the cosmetic changes are limited, the facelifted Octavia will get a lot more features and equipment than before. While the international spec model comes with a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the India-spec offering is also expected to get an updated system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Under the hood, the Skoda Octavia facelift will come with the same engine options – two petrol and one diesel engine option, as before. The petrol-powered Octavia will come with a 1.4-litre and a 1.8-litre TSI unit, while the diesel will come fitted with Volkswagen’s bread-and-butter 2.0-litre TDI unit. The 1.4-petrol will be available only with the 6-speed manual transmission while the 1.8 TSI will be mated to a 7-speed DSG. The diesel mill will come with the option of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DSG. Skoda is expected to launch the facelifted Octavia in a few weeks’ time. When launched, expect it to be priced marginally higher than the outgoing model.
