The compact SUV even took top honours in this year’s Indian Car of the Year awards
Although a bit late to join the party, Maruti Suzuki has been rocking the sales charts with the Vitara Brezza. The Manesar-based car maker stepped into the compact SUV segment with the launch of the Vitara Brezza in March last year and since then the car has been consistently selling around 8000-10,000 units each month. In fact, just a few months into its launch, in May 2016, the Vitara Brezza surpassed the Hyundai Creta to take the title of the best-selling SUV for that month. With such a consistent performance on the sales charts, it comes as no surprise that more than 2 lakh units of the Vitara Brezza have been booked since its launch.
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has been lauded by experts and enthusiasts alike. The car was awarded the 2017 Indian Car of the Year and it also stood among the top-5 in our Best of 2016 test. The compact SUV has been registering good numbers despite just being available in a diesel variant. At the heart of the Vitara Brezza is the tried and tested 1.3-litre diesel mill that has been sourced from Fiat. Recent reports suggest that a petrol iteration of the Vitara Brezza, with the 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine, is also on the cards. The petrol version of the compact SUV is likely to go on sale only after Maruti Suzuki launches the Baleno RS as it will have the same engine as the hatchback.
